October 12, 2010 Launch of new GP Guide from the Department of Health

Customer Research Technology (CRT) is pleased to announce the release of a new guide for GPs seeking to implement real time patient feedback technologies into their practice.

CRT, the UK’s leading supplier of Patient Feedback systems, worked with the Department of Health (DoH) to produce “A Best Practice Guide to Using Real-time Patient Feedback” which focuses on how technology can help GP practices achieve their patient satisfaction goals.A Best Practice Guide to Using Real-time Patient Feedback

The guide highlights how an effective and well managed feedback system allows GPs to engage with patients effectively – and in real time – about topics that are relevant to them. The insight gained of the patient experience  informs improvements within practices.

With the changes that the primary care sector is undergoing, patient choice and patient satisfaction remain key performance indicators for GPs. Engaging with existing patients and adapting services to attract new patients is therefore of paramount importance.

The guide details how GPs can interact with patients and gain their trust with the use of technology. CRT's ViewPoint system, which is widely used to great effect across the NHS, is one of the technologies the DoH has used to highlight how GPs can track practice performance from a patient perspective.  The results identify ways in which practice services can be altered to increase patient satisfaction and enhance practice reputation.

CRT's ViewPoint system automates the administrative tasks associated with patient surveys, improving efficiency and allowing staff to spend more time on the critical matters of patient care.

Simon Rowland, CEO of CRT commented; “It's essential for GPs to implement a system to easily capture patient opinion and establish regular reviews of the data captured. This will lead to a service that meets and exceeds  patient expectations. Patients now have real choice, so patient service levels need to be measured and understood."

Simon continued; “it's vital to approach the measurement of patient experience in a structured manner. This will maximise engagement, reduce costs, provide a high level of return on investment and give the ongoing capability to address the areas of a practice that need to be improved. The purpose of the guide is to provide an easy to use tool that helps put patient feedback technologies into a practice to benefit both patients and the practice”.
